“In a neighborhood with many young families, the Stingrays bring together children and parents in friendship and camaraderie in a way that otherwise wouldn’t happen. We have been so blessed by the community, which affects not only our community, but participation from everyone involved. Older kids volunteer to serve the younger age groups in the water everyday which provides excellent opportunities to grow as loving individuals.”

“We have been participating in the Wellington Swim Team for the past 2 years with our 4 kids and plan on continuing for many more years. It has not only taught our kids to become much stronger swimmers, but it has shown them the importance of commitment, practice, setting goals, and how to participate in a team environment. Our nearby neighborhood doesn’t have a pool, so being able to swim at Wellington has meant a lot to us and we feel a sense of community being on the team. As parents, we’ve also enjoyed meeting other families and having the opportunity to access this wonderful neighborhood resource which brings people together every summer.”

“We love the camaraderie of swim team. It’s part of what makes this neighborhood so special. So many families know each other and much of that is due to the swim team. Our team teaches our children to put forth effort. Every swimmer on the team is important, whether the child is 5 or 15, talented or still learning the basics. I love the support the parents give to all the swimmers on the team. The positive attitude of our families is so much different than what kids experience on many sports teams.”

“We moved to Wellington 8 summers ago. We didn’t know anyone and we had just welcomed our second child. Our daughter (then 5) joined the swim team in hopes of meeting friends. Thank goodness for that! Not only was she quickly accepted and engulfed by the entire team, but so were we. Our sweet neighbors were welcoming us to Charlotte. They were inviting us to playdates, their homes, and churches. We immediately had a community.”
